Darkened Refractions

By R. Cary

When the darkness presumes, the poem begins

Refracted light retracted, redacted knowledge

Retried in recrimination as the angle presumes

Gesturing for appeal, asking this life to heal

Constructing in deterioration hoping in choice

Lying to awake in swollen dreams embellishing

Conflated outcomes resisting in existence told

In lacking obedience outcomes withheld,

Upheld, defiance an aberration as worthiness

Cringes, meritocracy lost in disorientation,

Once simply so behind revised revisions,

Output increased, light dimming, deceased

Negation, each corner forbidden, unraveled

As the ninety degrees of right caving in loss,

Lessons encompassed learned beyond default

Challenges unhinged as doors were entered,

Faith in compulsion lacking fear, a tool devised

In thriving trust in the ninety degrees, not in sight

As industry reigns over the path of the sleeved

Where refraction heartens our abundance, life

In full circle appealing for lineation unobscured,

Revelation revealed when darkness lacks prevail

As written words solidify mistrust in the benign,

In the divine, in simplicity of knowing nourished,

Encapsulating in not and is, a story still to live

As will be seen, not diminished, a token more

Than just a thought as decency survives

In the presumptions in lies, light will deny

End
